Stomach bloating affects most people at some point in their lifetime, according to the NHS. But you could avoid feeling bloated by simply swapping your cow’s milk for goat’s milk, it’s been claimed.
Bloating can make the stomach feel swollen, hard, and it’s generally quite uncomfortable.
Your bloating pain may be caused by eating certain gassy foods, or by eating too fast or too much.
But, one of the best and easiest ways to limit your risk of bloating is to avoid drinking cow’s milk, it’s been revealed.
Drinking goat’s milk instead of cow’s milk may lower your chances of feeling bloated, according to TV nutritionist Amanda Hamilton.
Cow’s milk is more likely to trigger allergy symptoms, as it contains the protein alpha S1 casein, she said.
But, goat’s milk is easier to digest because it has smaller fat particles than cow’s milk.
Around one in five people have already turned to milk alternatives, in a bid to be more health-conscious, according to a St Helen’s Farm survey.
“Switching from cows to goats’ milk can also be of benefit to your overall gut health,” said Hamilton.

“The non-digestible sugars or oligosaccharides within goats’ milk can act as a prebiotic.
“Prebiotics help maintain the health of the gut by encouraging the growth of good gut bacteria and preventing the growth of detrimental bacteria.
“If the bloating isn’t caused by issues relating to lactose or a cows’ milk allergy, then the search needs to be widened as there is no single nutrient that can reduce or prevent bloating.”
Meanwhile, you could also lower your risk of stomach bloating by avoiding garlic, it’s been claimed.

Garlic contains a type of fibre, known as fructans, that could trigger the condition, it’s believed.
Fructans can be difficult to break down in the gut, and subsequently sit and ferment in the stomach.
Even eating just a small amount of garlic could trigger painful bloating.
Your bloating pain could be caused by constipation, trapped wind , irritable bowel syndrome, or even by swallowing too much air.

People are more likely to feel bloated after a big weekend – especially around the festive season.
Speak to a doctor if your bloating symptoms don’t go away, said the NHS.
It could be caused by something more serious, including ovarian or bowel cancer.
