It’s clear Michelle Obama knows a thing or two about maintaining lasting love (the fact that she’s been with Barack for 25+ years is proof of the matter.) But ever wondered exactly what the couples’ secret is? After all, living in the public eye is bound to put a strain on any partnership.
If you answered yes, consider yourself lucky. The former First Lady has announced that she’ll be teaming up with Spotify to release her very own podcast specifically to chat about all things related to relationships (romantic or otherwise.) According to a press release, the series will include intimate convos with her nearest and dearest, including her mum Marian Robinson, brother Craig, and Valerie Jarett, aka senior advisor to the POTUS.
“In each episode, we’ll discuss the relationships that make us who we are,” Michelle explained in a recent Instagram post. “Sometimes that might be as personal as our relationship with our health and our bodies. Other times, we’ll be talking about the challenges and the joys of being a parent or a spouse, the friendships that help us through hard times, or the growth we experience when we lean on colleagues and mentors.”
The first episode will be dropping on July 29 and will primarily touch on issues many of us deal with every day which, she said, “can take on new meaning when we’re going through a global pandemic or seeking out long-overdue racial justice in our communities.”
“Mostly, I hope this podcast will help you open up new conversations — and hard conversations — with the people who matter most to you,” she added. “That’s how we can build more understanding and empathy for one another —especially during times like this.”
Bring it on.
